The Transpallet, the new pallet handling truck made from
TechnylStar SX 218 by Solvay is an excellent example of the replacement of a
metal with polyamide. The truck was presented during the AxtroLabWay 2016 convention
of Arcoplex Group, that took place in Mogliano Veneto (Treviso, Italy) on April
21. The truck consists of two sections (a central body and the forks) and offers
the same performance levels of a trolley made of metal, offers various other
advantages: reduction in both weight, production costs and noise levels; greater
handling ease, and less workload for the operator; possibility of sterilization.
The Transpallet made using TechnylStar weighs 38 kg, which is 65% less than the
110 kg of the corresponding metal version, and is capable of bearing loads of
up to 1,000 kg. For this product manufactured by Lifter, which is 100%
Italian made, a highly technical material was essential, specifically developed
in order to give the product certain features to make it comparable, if not
superior, to metal. TechnylStar is a range of polyamide 6 that provide
excellent performance levels and design freedom, making it possible to produce
items that also need to have a perfect surface finish. This range permits a
processing temperature reduction of 40°C as compared to the traditional PA6
variants, thereby making it possible to achieve major savings in terms of
energy and time.
